The Good for Nothings is out today!!! My space babies have finally landed! Planet Earth, say hello to Cora, Anders, Wren, Elio. They're about to cause a whole lot of havoc.
I think my main character, Cora Saros, says it best: "We looked like the weirdest group of criminals ever." In case you need a quick refresher, The Good for Nothings is about four misfits who meet in an alien prison and have to unite to locate an ancient treasure in order to get their criminal records expunged. If you like Guardians of the Galaxy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Firefly, The Lunar Chronicles, or The Aurora Cycle, then hopefully you'll enjoy this one too! And if you like a lot of witty banter and sarcastic one-liners, then you'll definitely enjoy this one too! I guess I'm pretty biased, but I think this is the funniest book I've ever written. Order here through White Whale Bookstore (my local indie) and you can get a copy of the book with a SIGNED bookplate! And click here to order through all other retailers. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! I'm having a virtual launch party for The Good for Nothings, and you--YES, YOU—are invited!!! It's happening on Zoom on August 8th at 7pm eastern time, and my writing twin Taylor Simonds, author of one of my favorite books of 2019, Collateral Damage, will be joining me! If you want to know exactly why we consider ourselves writing twins, you'll have to come and find out! The party is free, but donations to the White Whale Bookstore are also accepted. If you've ever wanted to know anything about writing or publishing, now's the time to ask. We'd love to chat with you! Click here to RSVP. It's no secret that 2020 has been a really bizarre year. One year ago, I was returning from San Diego Comic Con and working on the second draft of this book, and now I'm getting ready launch it in the middle of the global pandemic and I only leave my house a few times a week. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Part of me wishes we could all celebrate together in person (I had big plans on ordering a cake shaped like a spaceship and wearing a really gorgeous star tulle skirt that I found on Amazon lol), but I know that we'll have even more fun together online! I feel like I should say something profound to close this out, but really I just hope that if you read The Good for Nothings that you have fun and it makes you laugh. Everyone needs more laughter right now, and if my little book and I can somehow be the source of yours, that will have made all the hard work, sleep deprivation, and tears (yes, there were many tears) worth it. ♥
