I DID A THING!!!

I've spent the last year working on a BRAND. NEW. BOOK. and now I'm finally allowed to talk about it!
The Good for Nothings will be released on August 4, 2020, and was inspired by my love for Guardians of the Galaxy & Pirates of the Caribbean. If you like snarky sci-fi, misfit crew members, aliens who SERIOUSLY could use a hug, kickass female pirates, and robots that love to bake, then keep reading to learn more and to get a peek at the hilarious, amazing, super-duper cover! Seriously. I'm never going to stop gushing about it. I love it so much!

*Blog post first published on Swoon Reads*

I feel like writing a second book is even scarier than writing a first book. When I started the first draft of my debut, The Supervillain and Me, I did so not knowing if anyone would ever read it or, honestly, if I would even finish writing it. Fast forward four years and suddenly I was getting ready to write my second book for Swoon Reads—a book that I knew somewhere down the line people would actually read. Oh boy. What if this new story didn’t live up to the last one? What if I couldn’t remember how to make my characters tell snarky jokes?! (This was a huuuuge fear of mine!)

The great news is that, not only do I love this story with my whole heart, but it is overflowing with snark! Actually, at one point while writing I started questioning whether I was making too many jokes… (FYI: You can never make too many jokes!)

So without further ado, please feast your eyes on the cover of my new book, The Good for Nothings, created by the incredibly talented Markia Jenai and Liz Dresner.

Those mugshots give me life!

The Good for Nothings is my Guardians of the Galaxy / Pirates of the Caribbean brainchild about four misfits who unite to find an ancient treasure in exchange for having their criminal records expunged. Since the characters are criminals, I thought it would be fun to profile them for you. Here are my lovable space dorks going clockwise around the cover starting at the top left.

Cora: Failing criminal. Fiercely loyal. Desperate for mommy and daddy’s approval. Enjoys making things go boom!

Anders: Don’t you dare call him Andy. Disgraced warrior from the universe’s most violent planet. Probably does not like you. Desperately in need of a hug.

Wren: Friendliest Earthan you’ll ever meet. Connoisseur of all things shiny. Pilots the largest ship in the galaxy (or so she thinks).

Elio: Outdated but lovable android. Believes he’s human. (Shhh! Don’t tell him otherwise!) Bakes cookies that will make you lose a tooth. Definitely your new best friend.

Here’s a bit more of what you can expect:

Cora Saros is just trying her best to join the family business of theft and intergalactic smuggling. Unfortunately, she’s a total disaster.

After landing herself in prison following an attempted heist gone very wrong, she strikes a bargain with the prison warden: He’ll expunge her record if she brings back a long-lost treasure rumored to grant immortality.

Cora is skeptical, but with no other way out of prison (and back in her family’s good graces), she has no choice but to assemble a crew from her collection of misfit cellmates―a disgraced warrior from an alien planet; a cocky pirate who claims to have the largest ship in the galaxy; and a glitch-prone robot with a penchant for baking―and take off after the fabled prize.

But the ragtag group soon discovers that not only is the too-good-to-be-true treasure very real, but they’re also not the only crew on the hunt for it. And it’s definitely a prize worth killing for.

I can’t wait for you to read this book when it releases on August 4, 2020!

Add The Good for Nothings to your Goodreads shelf!
